The Colonial and Postcolonial Experience
As European nations began exploring the wider world in the early modern era,
their envoys established colonies throughout the world. Over the centuries, more
and more Europeans migrated to these colonies to subjugate local
populations, take control of natural resources, and fight other European nations
for continued control of these areas. The people and cultures of these regions
were impacted by their colonial status for centuries, even after they won their
independence. This series will examine the historical impact of colonization on
societies and nations around the world.
? Regions examined include Africa,
the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin
