Heroes of Native American History
When European colonizers arrived in what is now the United States, they were often met with resistance from Native Americans. This resistance took place over the course of many years. Throughout, leaders emerged and became heroes to their people. Some, such as Geronimo and Osceola, were renowned as great warriors. Others, such as Tecumseh and Red Jacket, used their words to fight instead of weapons. Historical photographs give young readers a glimpse into the lives of these heroes, and a list of recommended websites and books give a jumping-off point for further independent research.
