Student Congress Debate

The National Forensic League Library of Public Speaking and Debate

Student Congress Debate is modeled after the same democratic process that is used by members of the United States Congress to make decisions about legislation. In this book students learn to use their knowledge of an issue and speaking skills to convince or persuade an audience of the best way to solve a problem. Debaters learn how to write and present effective speeches that support or oppose a bill. This type of debate helps students develop their leadership and interpersonal skills through the problem solving process.
