Plane Crash

Survivor Stories

This book tells the stories of the survivors of four different plane crashes. Framed in engaging narratives, the author gives an account of each crash and of how those who survived dealt with the emergency and trauma in which they suddenly found themselves. The author takes such care introducing the eventual survivors, that readers can't help but cheer as they follow the desperate and inventive actions the survivors took to stay alive. The book includes the plane crash stories of the rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd, a CIA spy crashing in the former Soviet Union, a rugby team, and forestry workers.

Series Review--
"With their small size, colorful covers, and high-interest titles, these books will likely appeal to reluctant readers. Older students may shy away from these books, thinking they are for younger students, but once they find the pages in the back that list all the additional resources, older students will look for this series, too." -David Lininger, Library Media Specialist, Hickory County R-1 schools, Urbana, Missouri
