The Esselen lands extended along the rocky California coast from Point Lopez to Big Sur, and into the interior to the Upper Carmel Valley and Jun?pero Serra Peak. The records of the Esselen existence consist mostly of scattered objects that they left behind, such as arrowheads and seashells, and descriptions written down by early settlers. In this book the reader will begin to unravel the mystery of the Esselen that continues into the present.
