Life in the Middle Ages
The thousand-year period of history known as
the Middle Ages was the birthplace of Western society. The laws, customs,
and cultural norms of European civilization?and even the beginning of
modern scientific thought?are rooted in the Middle Ages. Yet this period is
distant enough to be the setting of myth, legend, and fantasy. So what was daily
life for the people of this time period like? This series explores important
and common elements of medieval life, including medieval architecture,
