The Cave of Prehistoric Wall Paintings
On September 12, 1940, four teenage boys went exploring in a cave on the west bank of the Vezere River in southwestern France. Little did they know that they had stumbled on a historical treasure! Your students can join those boys in uncovering the lives of people who lived during the last Ice Age, more than 17,000 years ago, and learn why the preservation of their paintings has closed the cave to the public.
